The new Eurobarometer report on sport and physical activity across European Member States has been published by the EU Commission. Face-to-face interviews were conducted in December of 2017 with 28,000 Europeans – 1,004 in Ireland and 1,338 in the UK.
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has released guidelines on how environment design can be used to increase physical activity of the population. The guidelines are aimed at local authorities, town and community planners, transport planners and others responsible for the development of the built environment.

The World Health Organisation is hosting an open web-based consultation on a first draft Global Action Plan to Promote Physical Activity. The consultation is open until 22 September 2017. Member States, UN organizations and non-State actors are invited to submit their comments. In 2013, a global voluntary target was set by the World Health Assembly to reduce physical inactivity by 10% by 2025, but progress towards achieving this target has been slow.
