IPH Chief Executive Mr Owen Metcalfe will be taking part on a panel discussion on the role of public health in tackling family adversity at a UK & Ireland Public Health Inequalties Collaboration event taking place today (Thursday 19 November) in Edinburgh.
The UK & Ireland Public Health Inequalities Collaboration is a partnership between the UCL Institute of Health Equity and public health and government bodies in the UK and Ireland. 'Family Adversity: Children, Young People and the Next Generation is being hosted by NHS Scotland to learn best practice across the different nations, and to understand the role of public health in family adversity. The meeting will feature representatives and presentations of work from across the UK and Ireland and offer opportunities to take an active part in discussions on evidence, policy development and practice and the welcome given by Professor Sir Michael Marmot.
The focus will be on actions to reduce family adversity and how collaboration can help to achieve this.
