IPH launches ‘How We Age’ Image Gallery to mark International Day of Older Persons

The Institute of Public Health (IPH) has launched new gallery of images capturing the lived experiences of older people in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

The How We Age gallery of images is the culmination of an all-island photography competition, hosted by IPH earlier this year, in a bid to reframe how older people are portrayed.

The gallery is now being launched in advance of International Day of Older Persons on Saturday 1 October and to mark positive ageing awareness campaigns running in September and October.

IPH intends to use images in the How We Age gallery in its ongoing work to promote healthy ageing and broader public health themes.

The images are also available to partner and allied organisations as a free-to-access image resource.

Access the How We Age Gallery here.

Image Use & Guidance: To use images please refer to guidance on usage rights here.

Any queries about the How We Age gallery can be emailed to communications@publichealth.ie.

First prize in the How We Age Photography competition went to Helen Moloney for her picture ‘One of those please Nan Nan’.

Second prize in the How We Age Photography competition went to Gerry Scully for his picture from a family holiday in France.

Third prize in the How We Age Photography competition went to Mark Davison for his picture ‘Sweethearts’ taken during the Covid pandemic.

More images can be viewed and accessed in the How We Age image gallery.
