The focus of this year’s United Nations Global Road Safety Week (08-14 May) is on speed as the key risk factor for road traffic deaths and injuries. IPH policy team has been closely involved with policy developments relating to 20 miles per hour zones in Belfast and 30 kilometers per hour zones in Dublin. In addition, IPH has emphasized the importance of effective speed management of motorized traffic as a policy measure to enhance health through the uptake of active travel.
