The Institute of Public Health in Ireland (IPH) is embracing new guidelines for healthy workplace meetings.
Healthy Ireland, an initiative led by the Department of Health (ROI) aiming to create a society where everyone can enjoy physical and mental health, launched the guidelines as part of the Healthy Workplace Framework.
Activity breaks and healthy food options in meetings can increase productivity and creativity. The guidelines offer practical suggestions, including;
- Making water freely available for meetings
- Provide fruit which is easy to peel
- Encourage standing, stretching or walking breaks while being sensitivity to ability and disability.
IPH Interim CEO Prof Roger O’Sullivan has welcomed the guidelines.
He added: “IPH supports the healthy meetings’ agenda as a way to support both health and wellbeing, as well as making the most of everyone’s time. The World Health Organization believes that workplace health programmes are one of the best ways to prevent and control chronic disease, and by adopting healthy meeting guidelines we aim to play our part in creating a healthy workplace.”
