On June 19, the Health Research Board (HRB) hosted partners to Europe House in Dublin for an event on European Joint Actions. With active involvement in such projects, IPH will present on two Joint Actions; JANPA and CHRODIS+.
In CHRODIS+, 42 partners across 21 Member States will work collectively to alleviate the burden of chronic diseases. To perform this, the Joint Action will run 17 policy dialogues and implement 25 pilot projects with IPH involved in both. On June 12th, IPH hosted a policy dialogue on tobacco inequalities and, with support from the HSE, CHRODIS+ partners from across Europe were invited to a site visit in Dublin to further advance the transfer of Active School Flag to Member State partners.
In 2017, IPH lead on Work Package 4 of the EU Joint Action on Physical Activity and Nutrition (JANPA). The overall aim of the project is to contribute to halting the rise of overweight and obesity in children and adolescents by 2020. IPH’s contribution to this project estimated lifetime cost of childhood obesity. Professor Kevin Balanda of IPH presented the findings of Work Package 4 at the final conference, in Paris on 24 November 2017. This presentation can be found here.
