Southern Health Impact Assessment Network

 

The Southern Health Impact Assessment (HIA) Network consists of representatives from key disciplines who have an interest in improved physical, mental, and social health and wellbeing for the population which are determined by social, economic, environmental, healthcare and lifestyle choices including housing, employment and transport factors.
 
The Southern HIA Network will provide Cork city and county with expertise, experience and information in the promotion and practice of health impact assessment
 
Objectives:
1.      To promote and advocate the Health Impact Assessment tool in practice and policy
2.      To facilitate HIA capacity-building and shared learning
3.      To encourage and disseminate best practice and lessons learned in the conduct and use of HIAs
 
Membership
Network representatives include University College Cork, HSE South (Health Promotion Department, Environmental Health, and Primary, Community and Continuing Care (PCCC)) and the Royal Institute of Architects Ireland (RIAI).
 
Schedule 
Meetings will be held on a quarterly basis. The purpose is to provide a forum of support and debate pertaining to the use and advancement of HIA. The meetings also include presentations from guest speakers, sharing their experience and lessons learned around the use of HIA.
