Michael Marmot Workshop

Professor Sir Michael Marmot, UCL Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health, international expert on inequalities in health and chair of the World Health Organization's Commission on the Social Determinants of Health, delivered a workshop at the Institute of Public Health In Ireland on 8TH October 2009.

In this presentation Sir Michael highlighted the importance of tackling health inequalities and emphasized that it is the responsibility of all sectors of society. He maintained that this was an issue of social justice and should be prioritised regardless of economic conditions
