  • Institute of Public Health in Ireland: 9th Comprehensive HIA training course
    The next comprehensive HIA training course hosted by IPH will be held on 21-23 March 2011 in Belfast.  Further details on submitting an application will be available here shortly.  See here for more information on the comprehensive HIA training course.

  • IPH - HIA Forum, Tuesday 27 April 2010, Dublin
    HIA: a tool to support action on health inequalities
    The next IPH HIA Forum will take place in April.  Guest speakers include a WHO representative who will consider using HIA to support action on health inequalities.  Further details on the event and other HIA Forum events are available here.

  • 3rd Asia and Pacific HIA Conference, 17-19 November 2010
    The conference will take place in the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand. The primary host is the Health, Equity and Wellbeing Impact Assessment Research Unit in the University, in association with a number of other groups.  Further details available here.
  • International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA): HIA conference
    A one-day conference on recent advances in Health Impact Assessment will take
    place in Geneva on 7 April 2010, hosted by WHO and the IAIA.  Abstracts are welcome in the conference topic areas of HIA in Cities and HIA in Extractive Industries.  Abstracts are to be sent by e-mail only, by 15 February 2010 at the latest, to hia@who.int.  Further information on the IAIA10 International conference may be found here.

  • Training in Health Impact Assessment (HIA), 2010
    Two more exciting courses on HIA have been jointly organised by the West Midlands Public Health Observatory (WMPHO) and the Wales HIA Support Unit (WHIASU) for 2010. The courses will be held in Birmingham and at Gregynog, Wales.
    “Introduction to HIA”, 14th July 2010, WMPHO, Birmingham
    This 1 day course is designed for those with little or no experience of HIA who would like to do an HIA or commission others to do an HIA. After attending the 1 day course participants should have a reasonable idea of when an HIA should be called for and how it could help their organisation.
    “Ready to do HIA”, 5th – 7th October 2010, Gregynog, Wales (Optional pre course workshop on 4th).
    The 3 day course will cover the HIA process in more depth using a series of exercises based on real life examples.  After completing the course participants should be able to undertake a simple HIA or work on a complex HIA as part of a team.

  • 10th International Health Impact Assessment Conference
    'HIA on the move' was the theme for the 10th International HIA conference.  This year the conference took place on 14-16 October 2009 in Rotterdam.  Further details regarding the conference are available here.

  • 9th International Health Impact Assessment Conference
    The 9th International Health Impact Assessment Conference, October 2008, focused on Health Impact Assessment and Sustainable Well-being.  Plenary and parallel session presentations are available at HIA Gateway. Photographs from the conference can be viewed here.

  • HIA2008 South East Asia and Oceania Health Impact Assessment Conference
