The Institute of Public Health’s recently held a webinar on healthy brains for healthy populations on Thursday, April 15th.

Dr Claire McEvoy from Queen’s University Belfast explored the issue and public health approaches to keeping our brains fit and healthy for longer. Dr McEvoy has received numerous awards and her work has featured in the New York Times, CNN and The Guardian.

The population on the island of Ireland continues to live longer – but how can we keep our brains healthier for longer too. Good brain health supports cognitive function, mental health and overall wellbeing.

According to the World Health Organization, by 2050 the number of people living with dementia will more than triple – reaching 152 million. There is currently no known prevention or cure for dementia – but up to 40% of cases could potentially be prevented by public health and lifestyle interventions.
