The Institute of Public Health was established in 1999 to promote co-operation for Public Health on the island of Ireland.
It aims to improve health across the island of Ireland by working to combat health inequalities and influence public policies in favour of health.
The remit includes;

providing public health information and surveillance;

strengthening public health capacity;

and advising on policy.

Investing for Health Conference 2005 - Challenges and opportunities for Investing for Health

This years Investing for Health conference will address 'Challenges and opportunities for Investing for Health'. The conference aims to highlight the broad spectrum of work contributing to improving health and reducing inequalities across Northern Ireland.
It will explore the challenges and opportunities for Investing for Health (IfH), build commitment and inform future work to ensure the strategy's full potential is realised.

Global Health Watch – An Alternative World Health Report

The Irish Forum for Global Health (IFGH) and the Institute of Public Health in Ireland are hosting the launch in Ireland of ‘The Global Health Watch – An Alternative World Health Report’.
The report aims to capture the imagination of the broader health professional community and the public at large and is explicit about the social and political causes of ill health and poverty. As a civil society report, it comments on the capability and effectiveness of those agencies charged with protecting and promoting health.
